A few more backgounds

So its Christmas break here at LMU. Everyone is off back at home. And where am I, you ask? Well I am in the Animation Lab still working on Backgrounds. Anyways here are a few more of them. I have not counted how many I have done recently, last I counted it was somewhere in the fifties. Hopefully I am in the sixties.

Update: Just did a count I am now at 63 backgrounds

Danger: frogs attack!!! Episode II

So I hope that all that check my blog, if there are any, have had a chance to view the first installment of Danger: Frogs Attack. Its a marvelous little video that my buddy Brian Engh made. If you have yet to, check some of my earlier posts for a link.

Recently Brian Engh has made another installment. In keeping with the tradition of such films as Star Wars: The Empire Strikes back and The Dark Knight, this film is truly greater than the original.

Enjoy

Some backgrounds

So its been a while since I last updated here. I've been pretty busy. Hopefully this post will make up for it though. Here are a bunch of backgrounds that I have been working on for my thesis.

These first group of Backgrounds are from my sewer scene.

Here are a couple of interior backgrounds. There is one thing I need to fix in the image above. I hate how the T.V. looks. I made it all crooked to try and make it look more interesting since it was straight on. I think instead I will put it at a slight angel and get rid of the stupid crooked shapes.
Here are some of my exterior shots. I really enjoyed giving the sky a salmon color as opposed to a light blue. It just felt right. Finally I have a few abstract backgrounds that I have made for my film. These were definitely the most fun, and the quickest.
Well, that's about it for today. I think maybe tomorrow I will upload some of the less crappy comics I have been doing for the school newspaper.

George Carlin

Sadly George Carlin Died yesterday. He was a super funny comedian and if you never heard his stand up you probably have been some sort of hermit for the last four decades or so. The first time I ever heard him was when I was a little kid listening to his stand up on one of my dads old records. I was not aloud to watch the Ninja Turtles on TV when I was a kid but for some reason I was aloud to listen to George talk about the 7 words you can never say on television. What can I say, my parents had good taste.
Anyways here is a drawing I did tonight in memory of George Carlin. He's got a huge cranium to hold all his knowledge and smarts.

Steven Seagal

Hey here is this caricature I made of Steven Seagal for a friend at work.  I got excited when he asked me to do a drawing of Seagal because I realized that he is already a cartoon, all the work was already done for me.  I used markers and crayon for this guy, which is another way of saying I used whatever was with in an arms length of me.

My Final Jay Storyboard

Hey, this is my final board for Jays storyboarding class.  It was a lot of work.  There are plenty of problems with it, but overall I am pretty happy I guess.  I lost a lot of sleep over this thing.

PacMan Frog

Hey, this post has nothing to do with art or animation or anything like that so its a bit of a tangent, but screw it. Here is a picture of my PacMan frog as she is eating a mouse.
She is an amazing monster. I can't wait till she is big enough to eat full grown rats. Apparently these frogs can do that when they are full grown.

Update:
Here is a link to a video that Brian is making about this monstrous little girl.

I WIN!!! Computers suck!

So against all odds I managed to fix my flash file. I win, computers totally lose. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Its a dark day for David

So the file for my flash game that I have been working on for my flash class for the last 3 or 4 weeks just got destroyed. I lost almost all of my work on it, so yea, that sucks. Anyways needless to say I am bummed out. On the plus side I got a packman frog for a pet on Sunday, so watching that monster eat bugs and stuff should cheer me up a bunch. I'll try and post some pics of that guy when I get a chance. Yea thats it.

My 120

This is my 120 from freshman year. It was basically my first attempt at animation so don't judge to harshly.

It was pretty cool we shot under a 16 mm camera on cels and everything. There is something awesome about using the traditional set up for making movies. I would probably not shot on cels again due to how ridiculously long it takes, but man it does end up looking sweet. Plus you don't constantly fear losing your project due to hard drive failure, no matter how many times you back it up.

First cintiqu art

This is the first drawing that I did on a cintiqu. That was last semester. I was messing around with monochromatic color.

Pooka

This is my 220.

Yea this is Pooka, I did it my Sophomore year. I never ended up giving it final line cause I ran out of time and don't like to pull all nighters. Maybe I should start, nah I love sleep way to much.

Figure Drawing

This is a figure drawing I did in class last semester. I think this was a 10 min pose. This was one of the first figure drawings when I began to feel like I was understanding it more. There are definitely problems with it, but overall I am pretty happy with it.

A More Better Tomarrow

Here is a Animation that I did for my 3D class last semester. It was a group project. It was pretty fun to do.

Oh, the little boy is naked because we ran out of time to make underwear for him. I think its funnier that way anyways.

Some of My Figure Sculptures

Here are some of my figure sculptures from Pupa's figure sculpture class. That class is long, like 6 1/2 hours long.

That woman was awesome to sculpt. She had awesome proportions. Whats funny about this guy that was the model for this sculpture is that his name is Clay. Thats just plain ironic.
